Harvey already has a broadly available Word add in, Lexis powered litigation workflows, and strong brand pull inside large firms, which makes a separate verification layer feel optional unless it is tightly tied to the last pre filing check and visibly catches mistakes in the final brief.

Large firms do not buy legal AI as one clean enterprise decision. They start with small seat counts, hot swap licenses, and let client pressure move certain tools to the front of the queue. That dynamic helps Harvey because attorneys and clients increasingly ask for it by name, which can make Harvey the first workspace added to a matter.

Clearbrief still owns a narrower but concrete job. It lives inside Microsoft Word and verifies citations, evidence links, and chronology level support in the filing workflow itself. That is different from a broad drafting workspace, because the lawyer is checking whether each factual statement is backed by the record before the document leaves the firm.

Clio, at an estimated $500M ARR as of April 2026, is pushing from practice management into front office AI after buying vLex, while specialist litigation tools like Crimson are also trying to stay indispensable by grounding outputs in matter files and source linked evidence.
The next phase is a fight over who owns the final mile inside Word and the broader daily workspace around it. If Harvey keeps pulling drafting and research into one interface, specialists will need to be the trusted last checkpoint, or they will be absorbed into larger platforms that bundle verification as one more button in the workflow.
