BigID FedRAMP Certification Through Knox
BigID
FedRAMP turns BigID from a commercial data security vendor into a product that can ride a specialized federal distribution channel. The important part is not just permission to sell to agencies, it is that Knox gives BigID a compliant hosting and operations boundary so agencies can buy data discovery, classification, Zero Trust support, and AI governance without BigID building the entire federal delivery stack alone. Existing use with the U.S. Army shows this is already an active workflow, not just a badge.1 2 3 4
- BigID’s federal product covers the practical jobs agencies care about, finding where CUI, PII, and health data live across cloud and on premises systems, labeling that data, and applying controls before it flows into analytics or AI tools. That maps well to agency needs as they modernize old systems while adding new AI workloads.1 4
- Knox matters because FedRAMP is partly a product problem and partly an infrastructure and process problem. Knox runs a managed federal cloud boundary that multiple SaaS vendors can inherit, which compresses time to market for vendors like BigID and makes federal expansion look more like a partnership motion than a stand alone compliance buildout.2 5 6
- This also fits BigID’s broader enterprise motion. BigID already sells a horizontal platform for sensitive data discovery and governance, then layers vertical use cases on top. FedRAMP adds a new customer segment with its own buying rules, much like reseller partnerships with AWS or Microsoft opened other enterprise channels.3
The next step is deeper federal entrenchment, not just first entry. BigID has already moved from FedRAMP certification in March 2026 to FedRAMP High status in October 2026 through Knox, which expands the range of agencies and workloads it can support and makes federal compliance a stronger wedge into long term AI governance and data security spend.1 8
