Cerebras Closest Full-Stack Competitor to SambaNova
SambaNova Systems
Cerebras matters because it is one of the few AI chip companies selling the whole package instead of just a faster chip. Like SambaNova, it offers custom silicon, its own software stack, cloud access through an API, and on premises systems for customers that want dedicated capacity or tighter data control. That makes the competition concrete, not abstract, because both companies are trying to win the same buyer from model developers up to regulated enterprises and sovereign deployments.1 2 3 4 5
- Cerebras looks closest on product shape. Its wafer scale chips are sold through Cerebras Inference Cloud, dedicated systems, and on premises deployments, while SambaNova packages inference through managed infrastructure and deploy anywhere options. Most other startup peers stop at chips, servers, or cloud APIs, not all three.2 3 4 5
- The technical overlap is strongest in inference. Cerebras now splits prompt processing and token generation across AMD Helios and its own Wafer Scale Engine, which shows it is building not just silicon but a full serving architecture and operating environment around that silicon.6 7
- There is still a business model difference. Cerebras has disclosed public market scale, with an estimated $510M of 2025 revenue and a May 14, 2026 Nasdaq listing, while SambaNova remains private and more enterprise deployment oriented, with an estimated $11B valuation after its July 2026 Series F.5 8
The market is moving toward vendors that can own deployment as well as chips. As inference buyers care more about latency, security, and guaranteed capacity, the winners are likely to look less like component suppliers and more like mini hyperscalers built around proprietary silicon. That is the lane both Cerebras and SambaNova are now occupying.1 2 4 6
