Crusoe in Nvidia anti-hyperscaler alliance
Crusoe
Nvidia is building a parallel distribution channel for AI compute that does not run through AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Instead of only selling chips to hyperscalers that are also designing their own silicon, Nvidia is backing GPU clouds like CoreWeave, Crusoe, and Lambda with chip access, technical validation, and flagship deployments, so its preferred hardware stack stays central to the next wave of AI infrastructure.1 2 3 4 5 6
- CoreWeave is the clearest proof point. It grew into one of Nvidia’s biggest GPU buyers, received Nvidia investment, and became a large scale reseller of Nvidia capacity to AI labs and even to Microsoft. That makes CoreWeave less a normal cloud startup and more a strategic extension of Nvidia’s route to market.1 2 3
- Lambda shows the alliance is not just about financing, it is also about standard setting. Nvidia gave Lambda Exemplar Cloud validation, which signals that customers can rent clusters built to Nvidia’s preferred performance recipe instead of piecing together lower trust infrastructure from smaller hosts.4 5
- Crusoe adds a different piece, power and data center buildout. Its role in the first Stargate phase puts Nvidia hardware inside a new class of AI factories built outside the traditional hyperscaler footprint, where the scarce asset is no longer only GPUs, but land, power, and speed to deploy racks.6 7 8
The next step is a more explicit Nvidia aligned layer of AI infrastructure, where specialist GPU clouds bundle Nvidia chips, Nvidia networking, and long term power contracts into turnkey clusters for frontier labs and sovereign buyers. That pushes Crusoe higher in the stack, from renting compute to helping define how non hyperscaler AI capacity gets built.5 6 7 8
