BRM’s real upside is not better procurement software, it is becoming the routing layer for software buying. Because BRM already pulls vendor identity, contract terms, usage clues, spend records, and buyer workflow data from systems like ERP, email, Okta, and spend tools, it can see both what a company already uses and what it is likely to need next. That creates the raw ingredients for a buyer side matching engine, not just a system of record.

  • Most procurement tools start at the request or approval step. Zip is workflow centric, helping an employee submit a purchase request and route it for signoff. BRM starts earlier with a vendor graph, tying Figma in email, contracts, ERP, and spend systems into one company profile. That makes recommendations and introductions a natural extension of the product.
  • The marketplace logic is simple. If BRM knows a company already has Salesforce, HubSpot, and 50 sales reps, it can infer what kind of CRM add on, data vendor, or compliance tool fits. On the other side, sellers pay heavily to find that same buyer with much worse data. BRM is trying to replace broad outbound prospecting with high intent matches.
  • This is why the monetization path can expand beyond the current up to $200 per vendor per year software fee. Once BRM sits in the middle of discovery, evaluation, and renewal, it can charge for introductions, transactions, or savings captured, similar to how other workflow embedded B2B marketplaces monetize the demand they control.

If BRM keeps owning the buyer workflow, the product can move from helping companies manage vendors to deciding which vendors get considered at all. That would shift BRM from a labor saving SaaS tool into market infrastructure, with revenue tied not just to vendors under management, but to buyer demand flowing through the system.
