The key advantage is that Mottu is turning vehicle supply into delivery density. Every rented bike adds another working courier on the street, which lets Mottu promise merchants shorter pickup times and wider neighborhood coverage without first subsidizing a separate driver marketplace. That is very different from a pure delivery app, which has to recruit couriers one by one, or a pure rental business, which stops at the vehicle lease.

  • Mottu already had the pieces of both sides of the network in place by 2023 and 2024, about 72,000 motorcycles across 40 cities, more than 1,000 merchant customers for white label delivery, and operations spanning Brazil and Mexico. That means each new city launch can start with owned fleet supply first, then layer merchant demand on top.
  • The merchant product is concrete. A restaurant, pharmacy, or e commerce seller can use Mottu as the delivery layer while keeping its own brand at checkout. Mottu then routes orders to couriers who already have transport, maintenance, insurance, and support bundled into the rental relationship, which reduces failed supply at busy hours.
  • This puts Mottu in a different lane from iFood, Rappi, and Loggi. Those companies are strong on demand aggregation and dispatch, but they generally do not manufacture or rent the courier vehicle itself. Mottu owns more of the workflow, from bike assembly in Manaus to the courier's daily vehicle access to the merchant delivery job.

The next step is for Mottu to use this courier base as the default logistics layer for more local commerce categories, then sell additional services into the same relationship, including fleet software, finance, insurance, and payments. As the network grows across more cities, delivery coverage becomes both the product merchants buy and the moat competitors have to rebuild from scratch.
