Noom Selling into Employers Payers and Pharma
Noom
This channel matters because Noom is moving from selling a diet app one consumer at a time to selling lower medical spend and better drug follow through to institutions that already control patient access. In practice, that means employers, health plans, and drug makers can plug Noom into an existing benefit or treatment pathway, then use coaching, food logging, medication tracking, and diabetes support to keep members engaged long enough for the economics to work.1 2 3 4 5
- The employer and payer sale is a coverage sale, not just a wellness sale. Highmark began offering Noom to nearly 2 million eligible members on January 1, 2026, as part of medical benefits, and the program spans weight, diabetes prevention, and diabetes, which makes Noom a utilization management layer inside insured care, not a standalone app.2 4 5
- The Castlight partnership shows how Noom can scale through benefits distribution instead of building every enterprise relationship directly. Castlight added Noom programs for weight, GLP-1s, and diabetes to its navigation platform in December 2025, and Castlight says its platform can raise program use by 3.25x, which is exactly the metric a benefits buyer cares about after signing.1 6 7
- This model also explains why Noom is attractive to pharmaceutical partners. Noom has already built a GLP-1 companion that tracks doses, side effects, food intake, and body composition, and Noom reported in February 2026 that heavier product use was linked to more weight loss and longer time on medication. For a drug company, that turns Noom into an adherence engine wrapped around a prescription.3 8
Going forward, the winners in obesity care will look less like consumer subscription apps and more like benefit infrastructure. Noom is following the same broad playbook as category specific benefits vendors like Virta and Maven, but aimed at cardiometabolic care and GLP-1 support, with success increasingly determined by covered lives, channel partners, and proof that behavior software can bend medical cost trends.1 3 9 10
