The pricing weapon here is not cheaper AI models, it is ownership of the call stack. When Genesys, NICE, Talkdesk, and Dialpad already sell the phone system, routing, recording, and agent desktop, they can fold AI coaching, summaries, and copilots into the same contract and spread the cost across the full seat price. That makes a standalone layer like Cresta harder to defend unless it produces clearly better outcomes inside the same calls.

  • Genesys now markets AI as native to Genesys Cloud plans, with AI tokens included and Agent Copilot bundled in higher tiers. NICE packages Copilot for Agents, Supervisors, and Leaders inside broader CXone Mpower suites. The buyer is not approving a separate AI vendor, they are expanding an existing platform contract.
  • Talkdesk and Dialpad show the same pattern from a different angle. Talkdesk includes CXA in entry editions and layers additional AI through platform pricing and usage charges. Dialpad explicitly markets built in AI across pricing tiers for its communications and contact center products, using its own voice network as the delivery rail.
  • Cresta sits above systems like Genesys, Five9, and Amazon Connect rather than replacing them. It streams transcripts from those platforms, analyzes the conversation, and pushes guidance back in real time. That means Cresta sells an extra software line item on top of infrastructure the customer is already paying for, which raises the bar for ROI.

The market is moving toward fewer vendors that bundle telephony, routing, workflow, and AI into one operating system for the contact center. That pushes standalone AI vendors toward the hardest part of the market, proving they can lift conversion, cut handle time, or improve compliance enough to justify a second spend on top of the incumbent platform.
