This points to Ultrahuman trying to move up the stack from selling a ring and app to controlling the software shelf space on top of the ring. PowerPlugs already works like a menu of optional modules, with free and paid experiences, partner developed features, and app store style activation inside the app. If Qualcomm based hardware expands the ring into input, identity, and ambient AI use cases, that menu can become a marketplace where outside developers build on Ultrahuman data, while Ultrahuman controls distribution, billing, and defaults.

  • PowerPlugs is already more than a settings page. Ultrahuman describes it as a platform for individual apps and plugins, offers both free and premium modules, and sends users through an app store purchase flow for paid features. That is the basic commercial plumbing of a controlled marketplace.
  • The strongest comparable is not another ring, but connected fitness and wearables platforms that tried to own the identity and software layer. Aviron framed the prize as becoming the console and app store of a hardware ecosystem, while Strava and Whoop gained leverage by becoming the software layer that other devices plug into.
  • Ultrahuman has room to pursue this because its business is already broader than a ring. It sells rings, CGM, blood testing, home health, and software add ons, and is at an estimated $140M revenue run rate. More device types and more data streams make third party apps more useful and make distribution through one account more valuable.

The next step is for PowerPlugs to shift from condition specific health features into a narrow, approved developer ecosystem around women’s health, cardiometabolic coaching, authentication, and lightweight device control. If that happens, Ultrahuman stops competing only on sensor accuracy and starts competing on how many useful things can be built on top of its ring and data graph.
